Defense Filing: Bosch’s lawyer admitted BDT owns Lisa’s shares

On January 22, 2025, attorney Moisés Joel Bartlett, acting on behalf of Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez, filed an opposition to a discovery request in the ongoing criminal case No. 202300033850. In this filing, Bartlett explicitly acknowledges that Lisa, S.A. transferred all its shares to BDT Investments Inc. through a formal endorsement on April 12, 2022, and confirms that BDT is the rightful legal successor and shareholder of Villamorey, S.A. The acknowledgment is supported by documentary evidence attached to the file, including stock certificates and shareholder registry documents.

Despite recognizing BDT’s shareholder status, Bartlett argued that Lisa (as former shareholder) no longer has legal standing to request financial information, and that BDT’s requests amount to improper use of the criminal process. He further claimed that the 2008 civil seizure order still limits Lisa’s rights over the funds. Nonetheless, the filing serves as a formal, sworn admission from Bosch’s legal counsel that BDT is now the owner of the shares and rightful party in interest, undercutting earlier arguments that Lisa lacked legitimacy in the proceedings.
