Judgment 42-08

On July 11, 2008, the Eleventh Civil Court of the First Judicial Circuit of Panama issued a ruling in the long-running dispute between Lisa, S.A. and Villamorey, S.A. The court declined to rule on the merits of Lisa’s claims after key witnesses and documents could not be produced due to international procedural obstacles. No factual findings were made against Lisa, and the case was dismissed without prejudice to future claims with proper evidentiary support.

In parallel, the court partially granted a counterclaim by Villamorey, S.A., awarding it $200,000 in damages. This was based on alleged disruptions caused by litigation in other jurisdictions. The ruling does not question the legitimacy of Lisa’s claims, which were never adjudicated on the merits.
