Order 12: Court admitted Lisa’s accounting claim against Bosch

Overview
On January 5, 2023, the Sixteenth Civil Court of the First Judicial Circuit of Panama officially admitted the summary accounting lawsuit filed by Lisa, S.A. against Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez. This follows the First Superior Tribunal’s September 2022 ruling, which reversed a prior dismissal and ordered the reinstatement of Lisa’s claim. The court confirmed that the case was properly filed under Articles 628 and 665 of the Judicial Code, and that it met the procedural requirements for admission.
Lisa, S.A. alleges that Bosch, acting as judicial depositary, failed to account for $44,910,912 in dividends that rightfully belong to the company. The judge ordered formal notification to Bosch, granting him five days to respond. Represented by attorney María Luisa Villarreal Palacios, Lisa now proceeds with its efforts to compel Bosch to render accounts and recover funds it asserts have been unlawfully withheld since the original case concluded.
