Motion: Lisa sought update on letter rogatory to Guatemala

On January 10, 2024, attorney María Luisa Villarreal Palacios, acting on behalf of Lisa, S.A., filed a motion before the Sixteenth Civil Court of the First Judicial Circuit of Panama. The request seeks formal authorization to contact the International Legal Affairs Department of the Supreme Court and Panama’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The purpose is to confirm whether the letter rogatory issued in July 2023 was received and acted upon by judicial authorities in the Republic of Guatemala.

Lisa, S.A. is pursuing this step to ensure that Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez has been properly notified of the Panamanian lawsuit in which he is required to render accounts for over $44.9 million in withheld dividends. The motion requests details about which Guatemalan court received the documents and whether service of process has been completed, in order to uphold Lisa’s due process rights.
