Edict Notice 262

On September 16, 2024, the First Civil Circuit Court of Panama issued Edict No. 262/8853-24 to formally summon Villamorey, S.A. and Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez to appear in the ordinary damages lawsuit filed by Lisa, S.A. The edict warned that if the defendants failed to appear within ten (10) business days of its publication, a court-appointed absentee defense attorney would represent them for the remainder of the proceedings.

The edict was visibly posted at the court and published for five consecutive days—from September 30 to October 4, 2024—in La Estrella de Panamá. Lisa, S.A.'s attorney, María Luisa Villarreal Palacios, submitted proof of these publications to the court on October 7, 2024, thereby completing the legal notification process by edict under Panamanian judicial procedures.

On September 16, 2024, the Twelfth Civil Court issued Edict Notice No. 262/8853-24, formally summoning Villamorey, S.A. and Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez to appear and defend their interests in the ordinary damages action filed by Lisa, S.A. The court warned that if the defendants did not appear within ten business days from the newspaper publication, a Court-Appointed Defender of Absentees would be assigned, and the case would continue without their participation. The edict was ordered posted visibly at the court and made available in authenticated form for publication.

After the edict was issued, Lisa submitted proof that the required publications occurred in La Estrella de Panamá on September 30 and October 1–4, 2024, in compliance with the notice requirement. This step ensures that service by edict is perfected, allowing the case to proceed despite Villamorey and Bosch’s ongoing failure to receive personal notification—an obstruction that has delayed Lisa’s ability to advance its damages claim.
