Public Prosecutor Rejects Villamorey's Attempt to Obstruct Legal Proceedings

On September 30, 2024, the Public Ministry of Panama closed a criminal investigation for alleged document forgery against Lisa, S.A., filed by Villamorey, S.A.’s representative. The case stemmed from a sworn statement submitted during a 2022 civil enforcement proceeding involving over $51 million.

The Prosecutor concluded that there was no evidence of falsification or deceit. Although the facts could suggest a false declaration under Article 366 of the Penal Code, the investigation found Lisa, S.A. used addresses known to both parties and followed proper notification procedures. The case was provisionally dismissed under Article 275 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
