Prosecutor ordered bank disclosure of Bosch and Villamorey accounts

Overview

On September 1, 2022, the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office issued Resolution No. 2119-22 as part of its investigation into alleged crimes against the economic order, public faith, and related offenses involving Villamorey, S.A. and Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez. Citing Articles 75 and 418 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the resolution emphasizes that public and private institutions must promptly and fully comply with requests from the Public Ministry during criminal investigations.

The resolution orders financial institutions to certify whether Bosch or Villamorey held any accounts or financial products from December 2018 through the date of response. Banks must supply opening documents, due-diligence files, contracts, transactional profiles, deposit slips, transfer records, credit card statements, loan documents, safe-deposit box logs, investment files, and any existing investigative reports. The information will serve as evidentiary material to identify participants, track funds, and determine whether grounds exist for formal charges.
