Prosecutor ordered Villamorey and GALA to produce records

Overview

On July 3, 2024, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office issued a decision granting Lisa, S.A.’s request to formally require Villamorey, S.A.—or its resident agent, Galindo, Arias & López (GALA)—to provide complete financial and accounting records for the period 2019–2024. The records include books, statements, and other documentation relevant to the criminal investigation into Villamorey’s alleged retention of dividends owed to Lisa. The Prosecutor found the request appropriate because the investigation concerns whether Villamorey wrongfully withheld funds belonging to Lisa as a shareholder.

The Prosecutor denied Lisa’s separate request for an on-site inspection of Villamorey or GALA, reasoning that such a measure has the same purpose as the document request and is unnecessary at this stage. The request for a forensic audit was also deferred until the financial documents are received and evaluated. The decision concludes by ordering the issuance of an official notice to Villamorey or GALA and notifying all parties.
